Valencia CF -through the VCF Foundation- took part in World Book Day this past Friday, collaborating in the celebration of the Cultural Week at schools that participate in the Escoles COR Blanquinegre initiative.
This project, created in 2015, is a sport and socio-educational tool aimed at teachers and students, consisting mainly of minors and young people at risk of social exclusion. All of the participating institutions are located in neighbourhoods of Valencia and towns in the region.
One such school, the Colegio Madre Petra in Torrent, was visited by Valencia CF board member and Executive Director Joey Lim, who handed over a gift of the book ‘Amunt València’ for the school library, reading the opening pages of it to the children.
Also present was the author of the book, Bárbara Benavent, who held a talk with the students on 'My best day in the Escoles project'.
In addition, thanks to the success of a charity auction of the official Valencia CF shirts worn in the derby against Levante UD, the club and the VCF Foundation delivered Valencia CF masks and pencil cases to participating students.
Thanks to the support of the Valencia Ayuntamiento and the Valencia City Council, nearly 3,000 students from 50 schools in the Valencia region have benefited from the Escoles COR Blanquinegre initiative.
